CLIENT PERSPECTIVES

Professional Investors

Evaluate investment ideas through instrument mechanics, executable liquidity, total costs, and the capacity to absorb losses. This framework connects digital assets and derivative positions with existing holdings, defined objectives, and a clear understanding of the responsibilities behind each exposure

Core questions

  • Distinguish spot ownership, perpetual exposure and option positions
  • Review margin, funding, fees and holding conditions
  • Evaluate liquidity, volatility and technology risks

Objectives and investment context

Professional experience does not remove the need to define the purpose of a position. A directional trade, a portfolio hedge, and a longer-term allocation answer different questions and require different measures of success. Research begins with the investment horizon, available capital, existing exposures, and the amount of loss that can be absorbed without disrupting other obligations

The review distinguishes the expected market outcome from the conditions needed to implement a position. An attractive price view may be unsuitable for an instrument with expensive funding, limited depth, or difficult withdrawal arrangements. Experience and eligibility must be assessed separately from the category label

Instrument selection and exposure

Compare spot ownership with perpetual contracts and options using rights, payout structure, collateral, and holding costs. The same underlying asset can produce very different outcomes through different instruments. Contract units, expiry where applicable, reference prices, and settlement currency need to be recorded before comparing positions

Research should identify whether multiple holdings repeat the same exposure. A token, a fund holding that token, and a derivative on its price can create concentrated risk despite different product names. The useful comparison is the combined sensitivity and cash requirement of the portfolio

Liquidity, pricing, and execution

An observed quote is not evidence that a planned quantity can trade at that price. Review bid–ask spreads, market depth, order behavior, and the relationship between the reference price and an executable price. Assess normal conditions alongside quieter sessions and rapid market moves

A transaction review includes commissions, funding, network charges, currency conversion, and the practical route from a sale to available cash. Research can compare these assumptions across alternatives, but should not describe indicative liquidity as a promise of execution

Risk limits and adverse scenarios

Evaluate price gaps, changing margin requirements, funding shocks, and temporary loss of market access. A position that appears small in collateral terms can represent much larger economic exposure. Scenario work should show both valuation changes and the cash required to maintain a position

Review custody, platform, bridge, and settlement-asset dependencies alongside market risk. Define how the position would be monitored and what conditions would invalidate the initial thesis. Stop orders and historical volatility do not establish an assured maximum loss

Research records and review needs

Useful research records can include an instrument comparison, cost assumptions, sensitivity scenarios, and an explanation of the remaining uncertainties. Inputs should identify their sources, dates, and units so that findings can be checked when conditions change. These are potential research formats rather than a confirmed service package

An initial discussion should clarify the instruments being considered, jurisdiction, experience, decision authority, and intended use of the analysis. Account opening, execution, custody, and personalized advice remain separate arrangements that require verified entity capabilities and formal terms
